What Happens If A Plane Breaks Down Where It’s Going?

Have you ever thought about it? How can a plane return if it breaks down at an airport in Africa? Come, let’s examine together how this is resolved.

Fault Detection

A plane has malfunctioned at an airport in Africa and a return flight has been delayed. There is two management of the maintenance of the aircraft. If there is a flying technician on the plane, and the fault in the plane is the kind of fault that the technician can fix, the maintenance of the plane is done at the airport and the plane returns. If a volatile technician cannot maintain the plane, or rather, if the fault is large, the plane remains at the airport, and the airline sends technicians from its own country to that country to maintain the plane.

Who Is This Flight Technician?

Aircraft technicians can become volatile technicians after taking the assigned training and passing the exams, and airlines decide that on long flights if the plane is in the air or has a malfunction at the airport where it landed, it will be a more practical solution to have a technician on the plane. Volatile technicians need to master the types of aircraft they fly and act coolly. As mentioned above, the Troubleshooting process of the aircraft is done in two ways. In addition, if there is a larger malfunction, for example, if an aircraft engine replacement is required, permission is obtained from the competent authorities and the engine replacement is performed at this airport with technicians.

Are Planes Checked After Each Flight?

During the day, planes that take people to the sky and transport them to the places they want to reach as soon as possible must complete their pre-flight preparations as soon as possible. The teams ‘ primary goal is to ensure flight safety. At the airport, we can describe this process as doing a lot of work in a little time.

What Are The New Post-Flight Preparation Stages?

  • After the flight, the technical team in the field thoroughly checks the inside and outside of the aircraft.
  • Aircraft fuel, called Jet A1, is loaded onto the aircraft.
  • As fuel loading continues, another team loads the food and drinks that passengers will consume inside the plane.
  • Officers begin placing passengers ‘ suitcases on the plane.
  • Cabin attendants check everything from food and drink inside the aircraft to flight safety.
  • The captain pilot and his assistant enter the cockpit and begin preparations for the flight.
  • Finally, the Captain-pilot makes his final checks by circling the plane.
  • After the captain gives the pilot’s approval, the passengers are transported to the plane by buses.
  • The aircraft is technically delivered to the flight crew after checking every visible part before the flight.
  • At the end of these stages, the aircraft will be ready for its new flight.

When Do The Pilots And Flight Attendants Get On The Plane?

When the technical team in the area allows flight control, the Flight Crew (2 pilots, 4 cabin officers) arrive on the plane.

How Soon Will The Plane Be Ready To Fly?

At the same time, detailed studies are carried out for the flight while the operations related to the passengers continue. After the plane is ready for flight, our teams make boarding procedures. Once our passengers have settled on the plane, the flight is ready. This process is completed in about 40 minutes.

Can Aircraft Parts Be Replaced Even If They Don’t Malfunction?

If our car crashes or breaks down, we want to take it to the Authorized Service immediately. Sometimes the problem with our car, contrary to what we think, is so simple that we continue to use it without even changing the part of the car. So, is such a thing possible on planes?

In Aircraft Maintenance And Repairs, It Should Not Be Said ‘’Nothing Will Happen’’

When we see the news of the plane crash, the same question always comes to mind in general; was this plane taken care of? Was he missing in his care? We try to find answers to questions. But contrary to what is said, this is a very complicated situation. Aircraft maintenance is done by looking at the status of aircraft, such as flight time, the number of landings and take-offs. In this business, where all maintenance proceeds on a calendar basis, every day of maintenance must be performed if it arrives. But if these parts do not fail and the change time does not expire, their changes can also be made. For example, it is not right to change a part that needs to change every 6 months in its fifth month. But if the plane is going to Austria for 3 months, an early change is made and the calendar is reset.

Aircraft Maintenance Manual’s Importance Is Great

The Turkish equivalent is the aircraft maintenance book and all aircraft manufacturers (Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, etc.) are documents containing aircraft maintenance operations of their own. These books, which aircraft technicians and engineers do not separate from their sides, contain detailed information about each point of the aircraft. AMMs are first looked at when changing parts that will be made on the plane. For example, we can learn everything from a book for changing landing gear to disassembly procedures, tools to be used, and safety measures. Finally, all changes and maintenance that we do on the plane must be specified.

How To Fix Planes In Very Cold Countries?

Before addressing this issue, let’s talk a little about how line maintenance activities occur in normal weather conditions, what it involves. Today, Air Transport is developing and increasing rapidly. The biggest factor in people choosing this path is speed and time gain. In this situation, it is in the hands of people working in line maintenance to ensure the safety of people’s lives, to reduce the accident rate of aircraft, and to prevent the failure of aircraft. Line maintenance is a technical section that allows aircraft to fly properly and safely. The purpose of line maintenance is to perform maintenance, control, and inspection of aircraft with certain periods, in cases where necessary, repair, replacement of parts. In other words, it is to ensure that the plane is always suitable for flight. The maintenance performed by the personnel working in line maintenance varies depending on the type of aircraft. So it is divided into four categories: A, B, C, D. In addition, special care can be done if necessary. Line maintenance personnel must obtain a certificate to be able to maintain the aircraft. These certificates vary according to aircraft types and models. In cold countries, as in all countries, line maintenance workers work in aprons. To protect against the cold, they take measures such as thicker work clothes, cold-protective headphones, and shorter working hours.

How To Test Aircraft’ Resistance To Cold Weather?

Aircraft go through many tests and systems from the construction stage to the airline. Especially new series can be put to the test in many countries. Some of these tests are weight tests, flocks of birds’ tests, and precipitation tests. But some companies apply different systems for cold. Some companies go to the South Pole and keep the engines and some aircraft parts there for a while, and then start and test them. Some companies have areas where they can test for cold weather, and there they test the engine and fuselage.

Aviation For All Association has left its signature in aviation history with the distinction of being the FIRST and ONLY association founded and managed by students in 2015.

As of today, it has become The Largest Non-Governmental Organization in Aviation  with 3150+ members and 7 representations.
