What Is Gyrocopter ?
A gyrocopter, or gyroplane, as it is called, which is the ancestor of helicopters, is an aerial vehicle with propellers and rotary wings. Gyrocopters have propellers for forwarding movement, while they have non-motorized, constant rotating rotors (rotating sections of machines) for vertical movement. The first gyrocopter was built by a Spanish engineer and gained a place in the Second World War. Currently, they are used for entertainment, sports activities. Currently, gyrocopters have been replaced by helicopters.
Advantages Of Gyrocopters
- Compared to other aircraft, they are very light aircraft.
- Landing distance is shorter than other aircraft.
- The most important advantage is that the propellers of the gyrocopter do not have a connection with the engine. In aviation, this is considered a safe situation. In this way, when an engine failure occurs, this problem will not have any effect on the propellers.
- They are less affected by turbulence and strong wind than other air vehicles.
